Harvard Youth Lead The Change -Entrepreneurship

5-Day Leadership Conference for Students

Youth Lead the Change is a leadership development program created by professors of the Harvard Business School, Harvard Law School and the Harvard School of education, and held by Harvard students. Held for students in grades 9 - 12, the program aims at empowering students and unlocking their leadership capabilities as they develop tangible solutions to global problems. Over the five-day course, the students work in a group of five to understand a global issue and develop a social change project to address it. Through this program, students learn about core leadership skills such as collaboration, public speaking, time management, and self-knowledge.

The Harvard trainers also hold one-on-one sessions with students who continue to serve as mentors after the program. On finishing the program, there is an opportunity of complete mentorship for an entire year, to implement their project. Presented by The Leadership Institute at Harvard College (LIHC), this Harvard student organisation aims to provide and promote leadership development opportunities across the world.

YLC conference'19 was a very memorable learning experience for me. This conference made me learn the importance of negotiation, collaboration, confidence for public speaking and so much more. It gave me the opportunity to work on the change I always wanted and make a difference in the society. It was a very engaging and interactive session and taught me various traits of a leader and how a leader can make a difference in the society. Lastly, the warmth and support given by the counsellors was very special "

"Overall it was a great experience. The conference really helped me in boosting my confidence and helped me in articulating better. It also helped me overcome my fear to speak in front of a large audience and it introduced me to a platform without judgement which made it even better. It also taught me to make my own definition of leadership and follow it for the future."
- Myra Thadani, Grade 9, Welham Girls school, Dehradun

"I enjoyed the conference and learnt a lot about leadership. The biggest takeaway for me was stepping out of my comfort zone and facing my fear of speaking in public. I have been able to grow my confidence far greater in the last 5 days than I have in the last few years.”
